New year, new goals, right? I’ll be talking more about my overall goals for the year later this week, but today I want to focus on books!
If you’ve followed this site for a while, you know that I go through reading spurts where I read multiple books in a month then for whatever reason hit a wall and don’t pick up a book for another few months. I want to get back in the routine of reading a little each night before I go to bed instead of watching reality TV or Netflix until my eyes bug out. I was in that routine last summer when I was reading books from my summer reading list, and I read 75% of all the books I read in 2015 in those three short months.
At the beginning of each year, I set a goal for myself for the number of books I want to read. I’ve reached that goal a few times, but not in recent memory. This year I’m making a goal to reach my goal! Is that allowed? I have so many books on my “to read” shelf on Goodreads and I want to make a dent in those this year.
I encourage you all to set a goal as well and let’s support each other along the way. Yes, it’s easier to just watch TV at night, but let’s turn that baby off every once in a while and pick up a book. I’ll be sharing my reads here with you all and want to hear what you’re reading, too!
So, I’m setting my goal of 20 books read in 2016. It may not sound like a lot to some of you avid readers out there, or maybe it sounds like a super lofty goal to some. Whatever the case, let’s set our goal and reach it!
