Did I seriously just type “Quarter Three?” How is that possible?
Whether we can believe it or not, though, we’re closing in on the end of 2017 and are sprinting to the finish line with the goals we set for ourselves.
In January, I shared my personal goals for the year. If you want to take a look back to see exactly how I establish and keep track of my goals, you can find that post here. We are within the last 90 days of the year, so it’s time to get serious on some of the goals that may have fallen behind in the craziness of life.
Here’s how I’m doing with my 2017 goals with one quarter left to reach them…
Reading – My goal this year was to read 24 books (up from 20 last year). So far, I have completed 17 books. According to Goodreads, that means I’m two books behind schedule. I have to admit I’ve been slacking off on the nap time and nightly reading I had been doing, so I’m making a conscious effort to get to bed earlier each night, so I don’t fall asleep after reading three pages.
Health/Fitness – I’m still working out as much as possible and doing Stroller Strides at least three times a week. Teaching classes has been sprinkled in there, so sometimes I’m working out more and sometimes it’s less depending on the week and my teaching schedule. I didn’t fit any solo runs in this quarter, but I’ve been trying to make up for it by running more at Stroller Strides.
Social – I’m doing the best I can with our schedules to fit in as many Mom’s Night Out events. We have been going to birthday parties galore lately, so even though they may not be solo events, we’ve still been busy seeing friends and meeting new people.
Parenting – My goal for this year was to have more playdates with friends and add on activities for us so Cecilia could get more comfortable around new people. Preschool has helped this tremendously! We’ve had a play date with her class and will be planning more in the near future. She’s always had (and will always have) her Stroller Strides pals she’s known she was an infant, but I love that she’s getting to know new kids her age and that they have a fun time playing and learning together.
Relationship – We didn’t have many date nights this quarter because of our trip and the craziness of school starting up again for both Cecilia and Travis. We were able to sneak in a date night while we were in Italy and went on another a few weeks back. Oh, we also went to dinner after preschool parent orientation. Does that count?
Home – OMG, y’all, I have been SLACKING on this one!!!! And it’s the one that bugs me the most on a daily basis when I look at our walls and see the paint touch-ups that need to be done. I need to rip off the band-aid and just do it!
Style – Ugh, I’ve been slacking with this one, too. I was doing a great job of not putting on loungewear after my showers each day, but now I’m totally back in the rut. It’s just been so dang hot here lately, that putting on actual clothes is just too much energy.
Personal Growth/Learning – So, my goal for this one was to take my cooking to the next level and learn new techniques and cuisines that were out of my comfort zone. While I’ve been experimenting a bunch at home with new recipes, I haven’t taken any classes or totally branched out from the type of things I’m used to cooking for our family. On the other hand, I did train for a new job as a Fit4Mom fitness instructor this year, so it’s not like I haven’t learned anything new! I’ve taught public speaking and cooking for a living in the past, but teaching fitness opened up a whole new world for me and I have learned and grown so much from the new experiences.
Okay, now you tell me – how are you doing on your goals????
