Have you set your 2016 goals, yet?
Last week I talked about how I keep track of my goals and now that I’ve had some time to finalize them, I wanted to share a few here to maybe spark some new goals in some of you and also to keep myself even more accountable for these goals. It’s one thing for me to make a Google spreadsheet of my goals, but putting them on the Internet for everyone to read takes it up a notch.
I didn’t make goals last year because I was either in the final weeks of pregnancy and/or had a newborn when goal-setting time came around. Honestly my goal for last year was getting to know my daughter and adjusting to my life as a stay-at-home mom. Now that I have nearly a year of parenthood under my belt, it’s time to re-shift the focus a bit to my goals outside of motherhood. So, here are a few of the goals I plan to work on this year…
Reading – Last week I shared my goal of reading 20 books. It’s been a couple of years since I reached my reading goal, so hopefully this year will put me back on track. So far, I’ve read a little bit each day of this new year!
Health/Fitness – I want to gradually start incorporating solo workouts into my schedule. While I hope to sprinkle in a few group classes here, I really want to focus on getting back into running. I’ve gone on TWO solo runs since Cecilia was born and I loved every second of them. Even though Stroller Strides is the #1 thing I do right now to stay in shape (and it will continue to be), I’m ready for some child-free workout time.
Travel – On our way back down to San Diego from the Bay Area, Travis and I talked about taking more small weekend trips as a family. We live within a short driving distance of so many amazing places and Cecilia has been great on our travels so far, we want to incorporate more trips into our calendar. We also have an international trip planned for this summer, so I look forward to the happy travels we have ahead of us this year.
Social – I love to plan big parties, but this year, I want to focus on having more smaller gatherings with friends. I’m always so shy to call friends up and ask them to come over for coffee or head out to a museum or park with the kiddos, but I want to break out of that shell this year.
Relationships – MORE DATE NIGHTS! I’m starting to feel more comfortable leaving Cecilia with a sitter who is not related to me, so more date nights with my husband will be planned this year!
Financial – Before having Cecilia, I was great at saving a nice percentage of my salary into my savings. This savings is what I’ve been using to continue to pay my hefty student loan payments as well as some other odds and ends while I’ve been staying home. While I still have a nice chunk of this savings, I want to start contributing to it again. What does this mean? Finding something that fits into my and my husband’s schedule to earn a little bit cash that I can put away.
Home – This year I want to stay on top of cleaning my house. Last year, I typed out schedule of cleaning to be done daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly and I want to actually stick to it this year and not just go crazy cleaning when I know we’re having guests. Our condo isn’t that big, so cleaning doesn’t always need to be a huge hassle unless you let it get away from you. Also, for our house – I want to update our decor. I don’t have that automatic eye for design, but I’ve been hanging out on Pinterest looking for just the right things that are baby-friendly and cost-efficient/easy-to-do. Stay tuned!
Now your turn – what are some of your goals for this year????
