It’s been almost one whole month since I’ve posted a book review.
It’s been that long because my head had not been in the reading game since then.
After I read Most Talkative by Andy Cohen, I started Cooked by Michael Pollan. I had been wanting to read it for so long and thought it was a great time to pick it up. I was wrong. Although, the premise is incredibly interesting to me as a former chef/cooking teacher, I typically read around 10-11pm and couldn’t get into that late at night. I still want to get back to it at some point, but right now is not the time.
After that, I started reading Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. It was on my summer reading list and was a book that I had been wanting to read for a few months. I got about 35% of my way through the book (thanks for letting me know that, Kindle) and couldn’t trudge along any farther. Case Histories is the first book in a series (a you know how I love a good book series), but I don’t think I’ll be continuing with it or reading any of the other books. It went at a snail’s pace and I found the lead character to be a very off-putting man with no redeeming qualities. I know that sounds harsh, but it’s true, and because of that I couldn’t truly get into the book.
After I decided to put down that book, I started reading It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover and so far I love it. It’s one of those books that I start reading at bedtime and then soon realize it’s midnight and haven’t been able to put it down. That part isn’t so great since I have to have energy to cause around an active toddler all day, but it’s good for my mind and soul. That sounded totally cheesy, but that’s how I feel about a good book 🙂
So, that’s where I am now. I’m a few books behind on my reading goal for the year, but I’m hoping to make that up soon. How are you coming along on your reading challenge?
