Need a quick new book series to read over the holidays? I’ve got one for you!
Winter Street by Elin Hilderbrand was the 19th book I’ve read this year as I work toward my goal of reading 24 books in 2017. I’m a few books behind, but I’m hoping to catch up during our Christmas travels. Wish me luck!
This book is the first in Elin Hilderbrand’s Winter trilogy of books and follows the lives of the Quinn family who own the Winter Street Inn on Nantucket. Each of the family member’s lives is in disarray as we start the story and it all comes to a head as they reunite to celebrate the holidays on the island.
I’ve been wanting to read this trilogy for a while now, but was waiting for November/December to roll around to start it. I read the first book cover-to-cover in a few hours over Thanksgiving and I’m almost done with the second book. Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of summer novels and since I love reading her books, I’m happy that she had a series perfect to read during the holidays. I appreciated the complicated family dynamics portrayed in this book and the support that each member provides to the others during difficult times. This book was a light read that sets up the next two books really well with its ending. Overall, each of the characters was likable (even with their flaws) and I was rooting for each of them to have a happy ending. If you’re looking for a book to read amid all the holiday craziness, this is the perfect pick to unwind to!
