Who needs a festive holiday drink right about now? You’re in luck because I have just the one for you!
Even though they’re lovely to drink and hit the spot all year round, Moscow mules generally scream summer to me. Because I wanted an excuse to drink one of my favorite cocktails this winter, I winter-fied its ingredients by adding cranberry and orange.
You’ll still find the lime, vodka and ginger beer in this drink, but now you can add these twists and serve them up at your holiday party. Or if you’re like me and you’re not hosting the big holiday parties, you can serve one up to yourself at the end of a long holiday stress-filled day.
I mean, seriously, December just keeps getting shorter and shorter each year right? I feel like the last two weeks have whizzed by and now I’m already focusing on our crazy travel schedule we have coming up.
Don’t get me wrong – I have enjoyed each day of this month and not let the stress take over, but the days are going by so crazy fast!
I remember when I was a kid and the December days felt like they went by at a snail’s pace because I was so anxious for winter break and Christmas. Now, I blink at it’s December 14th.
Next thing you know, I’ll blink and it will be 2017.
At least I have this cocktail to enjoy for now…
Cranberry Orange Moscow Mule
A festive take on a classic cocktail.
- 2 ounces fresh squeezed orange juice (from about two small oranges)
- 1/2 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice (from about one lime)
- 2 ounces cranberry juice (I use 100% cranberry juice and not a cranberry cocktail)
- 3 ounces vodka
- 4 ounces ginger beer
- extra citrus slices and fresh cranberries to garnish (optional)
If you are making one large drink, place the first five ingredients into your drinking glass and mix well. Fill your glass with ice, garnish and enjoy!
If you are making two drinks, place the first five ingredients in a large glass and mix well. Fill your two drinking glasses with ice and pour the cocktail evenly into each glass. Garnish and enjoy!
