Another month is in the books! Here are my April favorites…
Family Sunday at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park – As I’ve mentioned a few times before, Sunday is really the only day Travis has off. Because of that we’ve coined the term “Family Sunday” in our house and it’s something we look forward to each week. This past Sunday we had hopes of walking around La Jolla, but as we were making our way into the village, we realized the La Jolla Half Marathon was going on, so we got the heck out of that traffic jam and went to the Safari Park instead. The Safari Park is a sort of second location for the San Diego Zoo, but is much larger and has much more to offer in terms of animal experiences and things to do and see. We’ve never taken Cecilia there since it’s about a 45 minute drive north of us, so it was fun to see her in a new environment. One of my favorite parts of the Safari Park is buying some nectar and feeding the lorikeets. It’s a fun experience because you pretty much just hold out your little container and they fly to you, perch on your arm and eat! So fun!
Park outings with Cecilia – With Cecilia getting more active (if that’s even possible!) with each passing day and being able to take advantage of more things at the park, taking her there each day is one of my favorite things to do. She absolutely loves climbing and sliding and still has the BIGGEST smile on her face each time she goes down the big twisty slide. I just can’t get enough of her.
Pinterest – Since we’re (hopefully!) on our way to becoming first-time homeowners, I’ve been obsessed with looking for design inspiration for every room of the home on Pinterest. I’ve had an account on the site for a while now (I got my account back when you had to be sent an invite by someone who was already on Pinterest, then be put on a waiting list), but never really visited it on a daily basis until now. I’m so excited to get my hands on a new place and make it a real home for us!
Stroller Strides – Stroller Strides can honestly be on my list of Five Favorites every month. I’ve been going since Cecilia was nine weeks old and I credit it with not only getting me back into pre-baby shape, but also with keeping me sane the last year. Cecilia and I have made so many wonderful friends who I honestly can’t imagine my life without. The women in our group are incredibly understanding, empathetic and outstanding in every possible way. I look forward to going each day and miss them when I take even just a few days off. If you’re a new mom (or even if your kids are a couple years old), I highly recommend finding the nearest Stroller Strides location in your area. You won’t regret it! Oh, and your first class is FREE!
Making and sharing smoothies – I’ve been making smoothies so much lately! Not only do I love having them for breakfast or just a snack, I love sharing them with Cecilia. The blender still scares her, but once she looks to see I’m making a smoothie, she stops crying and starts trying to grab at it to drink some. We sit on the floor with our own individual cups and it’s the greatest thing ever.
