Six weeks into motherhood, I’ve definitely got my first list of Five Favorites to share with you! And, yes, I said “first” because I’m sure this list will be the first of many!
Fisher Price Newborn Rock ‘n’ Play Sleeper – My little one LOVES her Rock ‘n’ Play! I added it to my registry based on a recommendation from a friend of mine and once I registered for it, I realized how popular it was among all my mom friends. My girl has slept in this since the first night she was home from the hospital and she also takes naps in it. I like it because it’s the same height as our bed, so she sleeps right up next to me so I can keep an eye on her. I feel like it’s better than a bassinet or pack and play because it’s so portable (we take it from room-to-room during the day for her naps) and I feel like we’ll get much more use out of it than a traditional bassinet. It has a slight incline so it’s great for babies with reflux and a small switch where you can set it to gently vibrate. You can manually rock it to soothe your little one to sleep, but I’ve also read the newer model has a switch on it to automatically rock.
Carter’s clothes – I first stepped foot into a Carter’s the week after I found out I was having a baby girl. I quickly fell in love with all of the clothes and since I went to a Carter’s outlet, I also fell in love with the price. Most of the clothes Cecilia wears are from Carter’s and she gets so many compliments on her fashion choices 🙂
My Brest Friend – Like many moms-to-be, I registered for the Boppy. I thought this would be the greatest nursing pillow since it seemed so popular, but I honestly wasn’t a fan of it for nursing. The pillow didn’t stay around me very well while I was feeding Cecilia and it would push away from my body and she would fall in the space between me and the pillow making it really uncomfortable for the two of us. After a ton of pain and frustration, in came My Brest Friend. This pillow is fantastic. I thought it was awkward at first because it seems much larger than the Boppy and fastens around you (you look like you’re wearing a pool floatie around your waist when it’s on), but it is the BEST nursing pillow. The pillow part is firm and since it fastens around your waist, the baby stays put making the entire feeding process MUCH easier. It also provides a ton of back support which is great, since comfort is a top priority when you’re nursing what feels like round-the-clock in those first couple of weeks. Seriously, I can’t say enough great things about this product.
Britax B-Agile Travel System – So far, we’re loving our travel system. I love the ease of taking Cecilia from the car to the stroller and the ease of pushing around the stroller. It did take me a few tries to get the stroller to fold up for me nicely when I first started using it (probably because I was still recovering from labor), but we’re all good now. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go running with this stroller once the baby gets bigger (I haven’t tried yet), so that may be it’s only draw back in a few months, but I’ll keep you posted! Also, I loved that when we registered for this whole system it came with everything we needed – carseat, one carseat base, the stroller and the connectors for the carseat to attach to the stroller. We didn’t have to register for all of these things separately which was a big plus.
Aden & Anais Classic Swaddles – This blankets are gorgeous! Our little one doesn’t like to be swaddled so we just use them as blankets for her in the Rock ‘n’ Play and for her carseat. We live in San Diego, so they’re the perfect weight and are really breathable for the warmer days. There are so many designs of these blankets to choose from and they’re all beautiful. Even if your little one doesn’t like to be swaddled, you’ll still get SO MUCH use out of them like we do! And, did I mention how gorgeous they are? I wish I could buy all the designs I’ve seen!
