My beauty regimen these days is much simpler than it used to be. When I had my 8 to 5, Monday through Friday office job, I got up early each morning and took a shower, put on a full face of makeup, blow-dried and straightened my hair and spent more time than I’d like to admit picking out my business casual outfit. Now in my current job I work afternoons and evenings, I can count the number of times I’ve blow-dried my hair in the past six months on one hand, my makeup is pretty minimal and my business casual outfits have been replaced with jeans or Lululemon pants and inexpensive shirts from American Eagle that, if they get dirty, I don’t really care.
So here are my five favorite beauty products that have made the transition with me and why I love them!
Bare Minerals MATTE Foundation and Warmth All-Over Face Color
Okay, so, this is actually two products – a powder foundation and a powder bronzer. Before I was introduced to these two products, I always used a Clinique liquid concealer and MAC Studio Fix on my face. They made my face super oily and my face makeup would get on everything! Ew. A couple of years ago, I went to a women’s event where Macy’s brought in makeup artists from Bare Minerals to do makeovers on attendees. The makeup artist used these two products on me and I instantly fell in love. The products are so light and don’t rub off on anything, but at the same time provide great and even coverage to make your skin look flawless. They also blend in really well with your skin without any makeup lines, so sometimes when I’m heading out for a quick errand and don’t want to put a ton of makeup on, I just brush some foundation on those pesky under-eye circles and I’m set to go!
Bare Minerals Brown Eyecolor in Summer
Another gem from Bare Minerals! I have this type of eyeshadow in a couple of different colors, but Summer is my go-to. These eyeshadows are super lightweight and have a great shimmer to them to really make your eyes pop. You can brush on one nice swipe and have a light shimmer on your eyes or add a little more and have a more opaque shimmer to layer with other shadows.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Formulas: 3-Step Skin Care System
Okay, so remember how I was talking before about my oily skin? It got really bad a few summers ago that I even went to the dermatologist to see what the heck was going on. She recommended using Cetaphil which pretty much made my skin do a completely 180 and dried the heck out of it. Around this same time Kiehl’s came out with this oil-free skin care system. They were giving out free samples of it and I took them home and tried them for a week and noticed such a big difference in the health of my skin and I’ve been hooked every since. I use the oil-free cleanser followed by the toner and lotion. I LOVE the way my skin feels after I go through this process – so clean and healthy! Also, since I was used to just buying inexpensive Cetaphil at the drug store, the prices took me back a bit, but you only really need a small size of each product every time you wash your face, so they last a long time. Also, you get lots of free samples when you go into any Kiehl’s store and a few times I’ve been able to get these products as samples to use when I’m traveling so I don’t have to pack my full-size product. And, don’t forget to save your empty product containers because if you take them back into the store (after you’ve collected at least 5 empties) you can get great free gifts!
Clinique Take Off The Day Makeup Remover
Hands down the best makeup remover I’ve ever used. I use waterproof mascara everyday and there is no mascara left behind on my lashes when I use this remover. The remover is gentle, but at the same time it doesn’t take much effort to take off heavy eye makeup when you use it. Again, since it’s pretty powerful you don’t have to use much of it so it lasts a while and Sephora even sells it in travel size! WIN!
Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in Hope
I first discovered this product last Christmas when I bought a lip gift-pack at Sephora for a gift exchange I didn’t end up going to. Instead of taking the gift back, I opened it up and tested out all of the products for myself. This one was was by far my fave. Since I don’t wear a lot of makeup anymore on a day-to-day basis, I don’t need a bold lip. This product provides the slightest hint of natural matte color to your lips and also is surprisingly hydrating. Additionally, I love the hint of mint in the product – no yucky lipstick taste here!
Okay…those are my five favorite beauty products. What are yours????
