Let’s chat about my favorite toddler books!
I know I always talk about the books I’m reading for myself, but I thought we’d take a detour today and chat about my favorite books I read to Cecilia. Our gal has a huge library of all sorts of books, but these are the popular ones in our house that get read before nap and bedtime.
Barnyard Dance – Honestly, who doesn’t love Barnyard Dance?!?!? We received this book at one of our baby showers and it was one of the first books I ever read to Cecilia. As time has gone by, my rendition of this book has gotten wackier and wackier and now I act out all of the actions and have perfected my animal sounds. LOVE this book!
Chu’s Day – Cecilia was gifted this book for Christmas and I can’t even tell you how many times we’ve read it in the past few weeks. Neil Gaiman is one of Travis’ favorite authors, so he instantly took a liking to the book and so did Cecilia. It’s a super adorable read and is part of a series revolving around Chu, so I look forward to adding the others to our library in the future.
I Love You, Stinky Face – We have read this book SO. MANY. TIMES. It’s another super cute read about the love a parent has for their child. This book is also a part of a series, but we’re not as big of fans of the others as we are this one.
Goodnight Moon – I’ve had this book memorized for probably the last year and a half. It’s an absolute classic that has been around for over 60 years and has stood the test of time. Cecilia’s first few words were things that she would point out to us in this book, so you know it has been read a crazy number of times!
Counting Kisses – This wasn’t a book we were familiar with when we received it, but we absolutely love it. When I started a bedtime routine for Cecilia when she was about four months old, this was the book I would read every night. It’s a “kiss and read” book that has you count kisses on your baby’s nose, toes, tummy, etc. This book will always hold special place in my heart because we read it as a family in the last few minutes we spent in our old apartment.
I always love hearing what other parents’ favorite toddler books are, so please share yours!
