DECEMBER! The last month of 2016! Here’s what I loved…
Christmas/Family Time – We head back home from our Christmas travels tomorrow (before we head off for our New Year travels), and are so sad to leave because we’ve had such a wonderful trip. The first part of our trip was filled with lots of Bay Area sightseeing and family-of-three time and the rest has been mixed with time with my immediate family and our extended families. Cecilia made this Christmas season so magical and incredible and she has been such a great traveler. I’m sad to see this trip come to an end, but have so many new memories that I won’t soon forget.
Cecilia’s Advent Calendar – Well, my DIY advent calendar was a huge win with Cecilia. She loved opening a tiny present each day and tried to convince us to open more than one bag in a day a few times. Her favorite little gifts were crayons, a new train and Hot Wheels. I can’t wait to do this each year and have this fun countdown to Christmas.
Baking Day – Cecilia and I had such a fantastically fun baking day with our best pals before we left San Diego. The kiddos had a great time making three different types of cookies, playing with toys and eating sugar. It’s something that I hope to do again each year because it was such a hit!
Winter Weather – We actually had some cool and rainy weather this December and I loved it! I always love snuggling under a blanket in the dark (except for the lights of the Christmas tree) and reading a book or watching TV. This December I was so happy that Cecilia loved to snuggle and stay warm with me.
Reflecting on 2016 – Is it cheesy that one of my favorite parts of December is looking back on the year? SO MUCH has happened this past year and thinking back on it can get a bit overwhelming. We never thought we’d be living in a different place than where we started (much less owning the dang place!), but I firmly believe everything happens for a reason and we are where we need to be. It’s been amazing to watch Cecilia grow and I look forward to the coming year and what it will bring our little family.
What were your December favorites?
