What is the one kitchen item you could not live without?
Is it the blender you use every morning to make a smoothie? Your pots and pans? Your coffee maker? Maybe a slow cooker?
I’m a total mean girl for making you choose just one, because there is no way I could ever do that myself. Even writing that list right now, made me think of how much I love my slow cooker and should have included it on this list. Womp, womp. Moving on…
As I just alluded to, my list of favorite kitchen items, could go on forever, but these are five of my current tops!
Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer – I don’t know what I would do without my mixer. Travis bought me my mixer for our first Valentine’s Day together (we had only been dating about six months) and to this day, we talk about how high he set the gift-giving bar so early in our relationship. I’m a baker through-and-through, and this appliance makes my baking adventures that much easier. The clean up is easy and the mixer has great power to get through the thickest of doughs and batters. Another plus is that they are sold in sooooooooo many different colors, so you’re bound to find one to match every kitchen and style.
Lodge Cast Iron Skillet – My cast iron skillet climbed close to the top of my favorites list after the first time I used it. It’s not something I use totally often (Travis HATES cleaning and seasoning it), but it never disappoints when I do use it. Cast iron give great flavor and caramelization to what ever dish you cook in it. I have yet to make a dessert in it, but it’s on my list of things to do!
Primula Stove Top Espresso Maker – As I mentioned in this post a few months back, I’ve started experimenting with making lattes and cappuccinos at home along with the cold brew I’ve been making for quite a while now. We don’t have the counter space or extra thousand dollars to spend on a top-of-the-line espresso machine, so I bought one of these uber-affordable stovetop espresso makers to experiment with. It’s so easy to use and clean and I’ve made some tasty coffee drinks at home without spending the $$$ for someone else to do it!
Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker – Since I was a kid, I’ve LOVED making ice cream at home. Back then, we had one of those machines that you needed rock salt and arms of steel to hand-crank your custard into ice cream. I’m so happy that now electric ice cream machines are the norm and making ice cream at home is a breeze! This machine makes the perfect amount and the freezer bowl isn’t so large that it takes up a lot of freezer space. I’ve shared some ice cream recipes here in the past, but look forward to more this summer!
Citrus Squeezer – Adding a spritz of lime/lemon/orange juice to a recipe or making cocktails for you and some friends is made easy with this gadget. No need to worry about seeds getting into your food or drink and no need to use all your muscle to get just a tiny bit of juice out of some citrus. This squeezer is super efficient in getting all the juice out of your citrus, so you don’t waste a thing!
So, those are my top five kitchen items (of the moment)! What is on your list?!?!?
