Oh, September! Just when I got used to having you around, you’re already gone. Here’s what I loved about you…
Fall-like weather (that stuck around for like one week) – While I’m always oh-so-sad for summer to end, I always look forward to my favorite season, Fall. It dipped down into the mid-60s to low-70s for about a week there and I was getting excited for Fall to come earlier than it usually does in San Diego. It got warm again, but then it actually rained for an entire day (WHAT?!?!?) and now we’re experiencing the lovely “Santa Anas” which means it was in the low 100s earlier this week. Ugh. I’m really really hoping the next time the weather takes a dip that it stays there until next year. I’m ready to break our my leggings, boots and scarves already!
Pumpkin Palooza at Trader Joe’s – Have you been to your local TJs lately? All things pumpkin were unleashed last week and the store is pure heaven right now for this pumpkin crazy gal. I’ve slipped way deep into the pumpkin frenzy already this year and may have to create a part two to last year’s Trader Joe’s pumpkin favorites. So far I’ve tried two new pumpkin items and loved them both, so I’m already 2/5 into a new edition of my five favorites. Woot woot!
Making holiday plans – We’ve spent the last two weeks hammering out our Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s plans and I can’t even tell you how excited I am for the holidays. Of course, I say that every year, but I’m really excited for this year. We have lots of traveling ahead of us, but it will all be worth it because we’re going to have so much family time!
Mommy-daughter dance parties – Cecilia and I have started having dance parties every evening. Really these started a bit selfishly as a way to totally wipe her out before bedtime, but they’re all turning into great memories. The girl LOVES to dance just like her mama and I love the moves she pulls out. Most of the time she just flails her arms (like her dad), but lately she’s been sprinkling in some break dancing-type moves in there and it’s hilarious. Sometimes our blinds are open when the dance parties happen and I can only imagine what passersby think.
Trip to Julian – I told you earlier this week that we took a trip to Julian last weekend. It was a short trip, but lots of fun and I’m looking forward to going back another time to do some apple-picking and eat more pie. Julian is also the closest place to San Diego that can get some snow during the winter, so I’m hoping we can make a trip up this year if they get some. Cecilia went to the snow for her first (and only) time last Thanksgiving when we were in Santa Fe, but she couldn’t quite walk then and had no clue what was going on. I can’t wait to see her jump around in it and maybe throw a snowball or two.
What were your favorites for September? Tell me!
