I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but I have a super power.
Well, at least Travis thinks I do.
I apparently have a super human sense of smell. While I can pick out lovely scents from a mile away, my nose is ultra sensitive to those downright icky smells or smells I just plain don’t like. I’m talking that gross mildewy-standing water smell, black licorice (ick!), trash, meat or milk past its expiration, “baby odors,” body odor and so on. Are you totally grossed out, yet? If you are, and you’re still reading – thank you 🙂
Oh, and when I was pregnant?!?!? Forget it! My super human sense of smell was kicked up about 100 notches.
I’ve tried all sorts of products that claim to eliminate odors, but for my super human nose, I feel like they just masked bad odors and then you end up with a mesh of something really foul smelling mixed with something lovely. That result is worse than the original bad smell in my book.
In walks Fresh Wave…
Fresh Wave products are all made of natural ingredients (just water and essential oils, no harsh chemicals) that are non-toxic and safe for people, pets and the planet. I’ve used a bunch of “air fresheners” in my day (remember the sensitive nose I mentioned?), but none of them actually freshened the air or eliminated the odor – they just temporarily masked it.
Over the past few weeks I’ve used all of the Fresh Wave products you see above – the odor removing gel, odor removing packs and odor removing spray – and have been super happy with the results. I think my favorite of the three are the small gel packs because you can pop one basically anywhere and forget about it. Seriously. My trash can was smelling not so great a couple of days ago and I popped one in the bottom and have had no bad smells since. No joke! I also popped one in Cecilia’s diaper pail with great success. I will FOR SURE be buying more of these once mine run out. The spray has also been great to use around the house (everywhere from the kitchen to the baby’s room) with excellent results. Oh, and the large gel is currently sitting in my closet which has gotten a little musty since we keep the doors closed now so the little one won’t get in it. Again, success!
While there is a scent when you initially spray the product or open the gel, it goes away quickly (but took about 24 hours with the large gel) and takes with it the bad smell you were using it to combat. The scent is super fresh (think citrus and pine) and something I did not mind at all (and, remember, I’ve got that sensitive nose). Fresh Wave has stood up to every test I put it through with great results and I recommend these products if you’re looking for something to really absorb and eliminate bad odors and not just cover them up.
Fresh Wave products can be purchased on their website or at their retail partners – Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and Ace Hardware.
