Hi! Have you noticed things have been a bit quieter around these parts lately?
If you haven’t don’t worry because it hasn’t been ALL THAT quieter than normal, even though it has felt like it to me.
Lately I’ve been feeling like I just can’t quite get ahead of everything. I’m generally a nap time blogger meaning that pretty much all of my writing happens while Cecilia is napping or after she’s gone to bed for the night. While I generally cook all of my recipes with her, all of the photographing, writing and brainstorming happen while my little is sleeping (or at least supposed to be sleeping). For whatever reason, quality sleep has been a thing of the past for me the past three or so months, so now once nap time or bedtime come around, I just want to veg, watch mindless TV or read a book.
Sometimes when I feel like this, I want to jump into writing and am at my most productive, but right now isn’t one of those times. Right now whenever I sit to write, I have total writer’s block, which has always been a sign for me to go focus on something else and come back to writing when I’m in a better headspace.
One of my favorite bloggers has done similar posts to this in the past and I loved reading it, so I hope you enjoy this. It’s a great way to get me out of my writing funk and get me thinking about everything going on around me. If you journal, this is also a really great exercise.
Wishing – that good sleep finds its way back to me soon.
Reading – The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice. I’m a little more than half way through it and like it so far. I still don’t know where in the heck it’s going, but I’m getting to the good stuff.
Watching – Gilmore Girls on repeat (as always) because I can turn off my brain while I watch it since I’ve seen each episode (minus season seven) so many times. I’m also back on a Dateline kick and can’t go a week without watching Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules.
Deciding – what we’re going to do for Spring Break next week (besides potty training).
Cooking – granola and overnight oats this week.
Hoping – the ongoing saga with our leaky patio door and water damage is over soon.
Changing – the way I eat. Last week I had bloodwork done for my yearly physical, and my triglycerides were on the high side as was my A1C level. While I, of course, enjoy the occasional treat (which generally finds its way onto my Instagram), I’ve realized I don’t cook/eat as balanced of a diet as I should. That definitely shows in my higher numbers, so I’m making some healthy changes in the way our family eats. We cook almost everything at home, so I’m excited to add some different types of recipes to my resume 🙂
Dreaming – of remodeling our kitchen and bathrooms.
Struggling – with getting quality sleep every night. I’ve been waking up SO MUCH and I just long for some uninterrupted restful sleep.
Listening – to Cecilia sing EVERY single song she hears. Honestly, it could be the first time she hears a song and she’ll totally make up words while she’s listening to it. It’s adorable and I love it.
Trying – to drink more water. Part of my change in diet is eliminating alcohol (except a glass or so on special occasions) and drinking more water throughout the day.
Loving – my little family. My kid is amazing and so is my husband and I love spending time with them each day.
Wanting – to start working outside our home again. More on that to come!
Feeling – grateful for my family, friends, health and YOU!
