Okay, so let’s talk about some new things and some old things that I forgot to mention in my last post.
Emotions! OMG. I think whoever came up with the expression “don’t cry over spilled milk” was the significant other of a pregnant woman. I have always been a cryer, but honestly, ever since I’ve gotten pregnant it’s gotten out-of-hand. The most ridiculous thing I’ve cried about – a tipped over plant. Yup. It was a windy day, my husband and I were making our way to our front door and I saw one of our plants was knocked over by the wind. Cue (or is it queue?) the waterworks! The look on my husband’s face was priceless.
As you can see from the photo above, I had some fun baby clothes shopping this weekend. I almost cried (hello again, pregnancy emotions!) multiple times while shopping because the clothes were so stinking small and cute. LOVE!
I hate the words “preggo” and “preggers.” Seriously? Who was the first first person to say either one of those ridiculous words and why did others follow? Bleh.
I’m also not a fan when people say “we’re pregnant” or “we’re expecting.” Uh uh. No way. The lady is pregnant, NOT the lady and dad. Yes, of course, the father is involved in the pregnancy and I’ll totally give him that, but the woman is the one that is pregnant. She’s the one dealing with weight gain, crazy emotions, and all the other lovely pregnancy symptoms. And she’s also the one who’s going to squeeze a little watermelon out of her. Once a dad does all that, then I can think about saying “we.”
I brush my teeth with a pink sparkly Disney princess toothbrush my dentist gave me when I was about 9 weeks pregnant. It’s really the only way to this day I don’t gag (well, gag a lot) when I brush my teeth. The bristles are soft and the head is really tiny and I love it. My current sparkly toothbrush is pink and has a picture of Ariel on it. All of my other past ones have Belle on them.
Maternity clothes are awful. I’ve walked into Pea in the Pod a few times since becoming pregnant and I’ve NEVER picked anything up. Ick. I have found one brand that I absolutely love though and have a post about them in the pipeline. Stay tuned!
I’m about 21 weeks pregnant now and so many people have been commenting about how this must be the time I’m getting my “burst of energy.” Huh? Does this actually happen? I have been EXHAUSTED my entire pregnancy. I take at least one nap a day if I can sneak one in and don’t see this burst of energy happening any time soon, but I hope it does!
I’ve started a list in my head (and now on here) of all the things I’m prohibited to eat/drink now that I want to eat/drink once the baby arrives. So far on this list: champagne, sushi, ceviche, blue cheese, huevos rancheros with a big ol’ runny egg, a moscow mule, aioli, a medium-rare steak and cured meats.
Oh, and after I eat/drink all those things, I’m going to fall asleep. On my stomach.
