Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Tell me, tell me!
This weekend was fairly low-key for us. I taught a Stroller Strides class Saturday morning then Cecilia and I hung out at Balboa Park for a while after. Yesterday, we went to the farmer’s market, did our usual family grocery trip then went for a short hike in the afternoon.
Cecilia is really liking preschool. The separation has gone really well, too, even though she does a total fake cry every time I pick her up. There are zero tears with it and it’s just more of a whimper because she’s completely exhausted.
If you’ve seen my Instagram stories, though, you know that her complete exhaustion after preschool has resulted in ZERO naps during the week…for the past two weeks! As you all know, I’m normally a nap time blogger, but since she hasn’t been napping, I’ve been spending that time relaxing because I know that with how tired she is, she’s going to completely unravel soon after I get her out. I’ve still been leaving her in there the normal two hours she would be in there for nap and she just has quiet time. She’s also been waking up earlier than normal each day, so to say all of us have been totally beat by 5pm everyday is an understatement.
Does it feel like Fall where you are? We had great Fall weather a few days last week, but it’s supposed to heat up again this week. I’m talking low-90s by the weekend. BLEH. I’m ready for sweater weather!
My garden is still a sad state of affairs with just some strawberry plants and rosemary growing in it right now. I went to get some Fall veggie plants at the nursery a couple of weeks back, but they told me to wait since we would more than likely have at least one more heat spell that would hurt them.
Oh, you now what I did find in the garden last week while I was watering???? A MOUSE!!!! It scurried out of one of the plots as I was watering it and freaked me the heck out! I swear I thought I threw my back out with the way I was contorting my body to get away from it.
This weekend, for the first time in nearly a year, Cecilia let me put her hair in pigtails!!!! When she was really little, her hair was always in pig tails or a pony tail, but since the end of last year she’s only wanted a bow in her hair. Every time I’ve tried to put it up, she’s had a total fit. This weekend I was trying to curl my hair quickly by putting it in braided pig tails and she said she wanted some like mom. I did it and she kept them in most of the afternoon. Both Travis and I thought this was going to be a breakthrough for her, but sadly, she went back to hating it the next day.
Do you have your (or your kids) Halloween costume picked out? By this time every year I’ve had Cecilia’s picked out, but I’ve been going back and forth this year. I keep asking her what she wants to be, but she still doesn’t really get what I’m asking. I’m sure once she starts trick-or-treating she’ll remember that part from last year 🙂
Travis and I started watching American Horror Story: Hotel last night and I lasted all of about 20 minutes before I started covering my eyes more often than I wasn’t.
Have a great week!
