How was your weekend? Saturday Cecilia and I ventured to IKEA (the second time in as many days) to get a cabinet to organize her closet. Then yesterday we had a packed day with going to a late breakfast, visiting Cabrillo Monument and then spending the afternoon having lunch and catching up with our good friends and their two kids.
During lunch I had my first margarita in one year! Actually, I thought about it and it was my first mixed drink in almost a year, too. Needless to say, I only drank about a third of it. Lightweight, party of one!
So, one of my new favorite things to do with Cecilia is to wear her! My husband wore her quite a bit when she was a newborn, but now I’m getting into it. We were gifted a few different wraps and carriers when I was pregnant and I’ve been giving them all a whirl the past week or so. She absolutely loves them so far and always ends up taking a nap when she’s in it, so it’s an added bonus for mom!
With Cecilia in her Moby wrap, I’ve taken trips to Target, Michael’s, Bed Bath & Beyond and IKEA (twice!) this week. At each store her eyes were huge with wonder (and I’m sure some overstimulation). I’ve found, though, that the bonus of shopping with your child is that when you’re talking to yourself at these stores, you don’t look crazy, you just look like you’re talking to your little one. So, things like, “oh shoot, I forget to get the ‘xyz'” or “where the heck are/is the ‘xyz'” are totally acceptable to say out loud. Also, when a Britney Spears song comes over the speakers, it’s totally cool to sing out loud because it looks like you’re singing to your child. I love being a mom 🙂
Okay, okay. Time for weekly thoughts on Mad Men. Is it just me or does everyone else feel a little uneasy when Glenn Bishop is in an episode? Ever since he was little, he’s given me the creeps and the scene between him and Betty was no different. I thought the episode was better than last week. I think with four episodes left, we’re going to start getting to the good stuff next week!
I’m loving the new season of Real Housewives of New York so far! Having Bethenny back has totally changed the dynamic of the group. And Kelly Bensimon is going to make an appearance this week! EEK! While she was so awkward on the show and totally not likable (at least to me), I’m kinda looking forward to seeing what happens.
So, you’ve seen the new Star Wars trailer, yes? I got chills when I saw Han and Chewie at the end. Christmas can’t come soon enough.
Cecilia and I have been going to Stroller Strides for a few weeks now and we’re still loving it. I love getting outdoors to work out and meet other moms in the area and the baby loves getting her morning naps in in the stroller. The group I’m in also has playgroup twice a week where they do different crafts and activities and I can’t wait for her to get older so she can take part!
A reminder that my online Stella & Dot trunk show is still open! Follow this link to take a gander at some drool-worthy jewelry and buy some gifts for yourself or for Mother’s Day, graduation or just because!
