How was your weekend? Is today “back-to-school” for you or any of your kiddos? Or do you still have some more time?
One side of me is so sad that summer is coming to a close, but the other side of me is excited for Fall and the holidays. I’m already brainstorming Halloween costumes and Fall decorating!
Speaking of Fall decorating, I can’t tell you how I excited I am to decorate this year because I now have a mantle and staircase to deck out 🙂 EEEEP!
Last week we had a mini staycation and kicked it off with a trip to Laguna Beach. We’d only driven through before, so were excited to get out and explore a bit this time. We ate at La Sirena Grill and can’t say enough good things about it. They pride themselves on being a MexECO eatery “committed to strong environmental ideals” from the reclaimed wood used throughout their eateries to the types of ingredients they source. All of the ingredients were incredibly fresh and full of flavor. We’ll definitely visit again. We also said “hello” to some adorable sea mammals and learned about the rescue and rehabilitation efforts at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center. Such a fun day!
We also became Costco members last week. Does your Costco have the 10 foot tall teddy bears like ours does? Does anyone actually buy them? Who the heck has the room? Tell me your favorite Costco buys!
Have you been to a restaurant where you order your meal and drinks from an iPad versus an actual server? I went to one last week and was NOT impressed. Maybe it’s just me being old-fashioned, but I want to talk to a server when I go to a restaurant. There were a few errors in our meal which would not have happened had we ordered through a human being versus an electronic device. Oh, and when we did have questions it was SUPER hard to find anyone to talk to. I’m just not sold that this is the way for restaurants to go – especially ones that want to deliver top notch customer service.
I finally finished watching The Good Wife last night. If you haven’t seen the show and want to, skip ahead to the next bullet point now to avoid any minor spoilers 🙂 I wasn’t a fan of the last few seasons, so it took me a while to finish; I think the last season was my least favorite and was hard for me to get into. I didn’t buy into the Jason/Alicia relationship so that was a yawn to me and I’m sad that Cary (aka Logan Huntzberger) just fell by the wayside. I was happy that they brought back Will for the final episode, because even though I didn’t like him at times, I loved him. Does that make sense? Overall, I liked the show and it’s one I’d recommend, but maybe it went on one season too long.
I hope you have a fantastic week and soak up these last few moments of summer as much as possible!
