Hi! How was your weekend/holidays?!?!? It feels like it was so long ago that I posted a Musings post and so much has happened since!
If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that over Christmas I posted a few InstaStories and photos from our Christmas trip to the Bay Area where I grew up. I had such a fun time showing Cecilia my favorite places to go and discovering new places to take her. One of our favorite places was Tilden Park Little Farm where she got to feed a ton of farm animals and run and explore. It’s definitely a new must-stop place on future Bay Area visits!
Over New Years we were in South Texas (South Padre Island, specifically) with Travis’ family. Our girl had a fun time meeting her new baby cousin, seeing her Nana, aunties and uncles and running into the ocean. Seriously, y’all. We had to keep a SUPER close eye on her because all she wanted to do was run away from us and into the water.
While we were in South Texas, we were able to meet up with one of my best friends from college who was also there with her family. It had been so long since I’d seen her so it was great for her to meet Cecilia, take a nice walk on the beach to catch-up and enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony of her parents condo while we watched the waves. Check out her site The Art of Living Beautifully when you get a chance!
I have to admit that before we left on our crazy holiday travels, I was incredibly nervous on how Cecilia would do. I wasn’t as nervous about the car trips as I was about the planes, because if she started to lose it in the back seat, one of us could go back and keep her company or we could stop at a fun place and let her get her wiggles out. You can’t really do that on a plane, so I was so happy the she traveled like a champ in both the car and plane! We landed in San Diego just before midnight and she got a wind of energy after being asleep and rolled her own luggage throughout the airport. Once she saw all the shuttles we were heading towards to get our car at the garage, she yelled “BUS!!!!” super loud and started running. At that moment, Travis noted how much fun traveling with her was and we were patting ourselves on the back, then not more than two minutes later she took a sharp turn to get into the elevator, fell and busted her lip. We picked her up crying and bloody, but thank goodness she was okay besides the cut on her lip. Next time we won’t pat ourselves on the back until we’re safe and sound at home.
Last week, I shared my new reading goal for 2017. Have you set yours? Tell me what it is!
I also shared my 2017 goals. Let’s set goals and conquer them together this year!
Did you watch The Golden Globes? The show is one of my favorites to watch because it’s so relaxed and sets the stage for the rest of awards season. When the nominations came out, I realized I hadn’t seen any of the movies nominated in the major categories. Then I realized over Christmas that the only movie I saw in the theatre in 2016 was Rogue One and I saw that over Christmas. I then realized that the last movie I saw in the theatre before that was Star Wars: The Force Awakens LAST Christmas. Apparently the only movies I can watch in the theatre are Star Wars movies over holidays. Maybe I should make it a goal to see a nominated movie before the Oscars?
Favorite Globes dresses: Naomi Harris, Laura Dern and Emma Stone (without the necklace).
Thoughts on the Globes: I want to see La La Land, I love Meryl Streep, Ryan Gosling’s speech was incredibly sweet, I wanted This is Us to win, I’m happy Claire Foy won for The Crown and watching red carpet interviews is painful.
Cecilia is a couple weeks away from turning two and it is showing in her personality. I’m feeling the terrible twos coming on and I’m not a fan. Yesterday was a super hard mom day, so instead of cleaning and cooking during nap time, I read and watched Gilmore Girls and I felt my stress level decrease immensely. I have to remember on those hard toddler days to also take time for myself to regroup so I have greater patience with her in the afternoon.
I’m so happy to be back to Monday Musings and I hope you all have a wonderful week!
