Hey, hey! How was your weekend?
Travis worked a bunch, so Cecilia and I spent a lot of time together, just the two of us. We spent Saturday morning at Target and then that evening went and played mini golf. She didn’t so much hit the ball as much as pick it up and put it in the hole and yell, “I did it!” Maybe we’ll try going again in a few months and see how she does…
Last week, I taught my first two Stroller Strides classes! I was a healthy mix of excited and nervous and am so excited to teach more.
For the most part, we’re all back on our normal schedules post-vacation. We’re sleeping more, back to Stroller Strides and seeing our friends and Travis starts school again next week. Fall is coming!
Speaking of Fall, how horrible am I that I CANNOT stop thinking about Fall and Christmas???? What is wrong with me???? I’ve always been the person that hates seeing Halloween in stores in July and Christmas in August. I’ve seen both over the last week and I’m totally okay with it. In fact, it makes me downright excited. Send help!
Inspired by our Italy trip, I tried to make foccacia for the first time last week. I have never been successful making a yeasted bread before and while the flavor was fine, the texture of it was NOT. Like AT ALL. It was super hard and didn’t have the iconic fluffiness of the bread. If you know what may have gone wrong, let me know. Was it my water temperature? I’m not a fan of the vague “lukewarm” and “cool” water descriptions in yeasted bread recipes and wonder if that’s where I always go wrong. Tell me!
Are you going insane over the eclipse like everyone else? It looks like we’re going to get 60% coverage of the sun here in San Diego, but I think it’s crazy that parts of the country will have full coverage and it’s going to get super dark for a couple minutes in the middle of the morning.
Last week, I bought Cecilia’s first pair of school shoes. How is my baby going to preschool already???? Her first day is coming up so soon!
All of this was me in the 90s.
Did you catch my review of Summerland by Elin Hilderbrand last week? Well, I linked the post on Twitter, and Elin Hilderbrand “liked” it and retweeted it!!!! ACK! Total fangirl here. It made my weekend.
I need to get back into canning. Summer produce all looks amazing right now and I don’t want to miss out. Problem is, I need to find time to get to the store and buy more mason jars because I’m out! Hopefully I can get there this week and can the last bit of summer!
Have a wonderful week!
