I’ve got a great thriller for you to read!
All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda was the 14th book I’ve read this year as I work toward my goal of reading 24 books before December 31. It was also the seventh book I’ve read from my summer reading list.
This novel follows Nicolette Farrell as she leaves her life in the big city to return to her rural hometown to help prepare her childhood home to be sold. Nic left Cooley Ridge a decade earlier after her best friend, Corinne, disappeared without a trace. Once home, a second girl with ties to her family goes missing and Nic (with the help of her brother and ex-boyfriend) tries to put the pieces together to solve these two crimes.
This book was incredibly thrilling to read as I tried to solve the cases of the two missing girls as I was reading it. The first chapter of the book took place in the present, but then it switched and the story started to be told in reverse as we uncover clues to both crimes. It may sound confusing (and was a tiny bit, at times), but it was worth it in the end. There were a bunch of twists and turns in this book that kept my attention and kept me guessing the entire time. The storytelling was reminiscent to me of The Girl on the Train, so I think if you liked that book, you’ll enjoy this one. The end wasn’t as jaw-dropping as I was expecting, but it was satisfying and I didn’t see it coming. This was a book that I looked forward to reading each night and one I definitely recommend.
