Y’all, it’s May!
It feels like we blew through the first third of the year in a blink, doesn’t it?
Before we move full speed ahead and give May all we’ve got, it’s time to take one last look at April and discuss our favorite people, things and moments from the month. Here are mine…
Solo and Stroller Runs – I mentioned in this week’s musings post, that I’ve kicked my running into high gear this month. I’ve been running twice a week on top of our three-times weekly Stroller Strides routine and I feel great as we creep up to the day of the Bay to Breakers. Getting back into my running routine after about three years of not doing it regularly feels amazing. Generally my run during the week is with Cecilia in her stroller and then my weekend run is solo. Even though Cecilia generally behaves in the stroller while we’re at Stroller Strides, I was kind of dreading my runs with her because I thought she would get bored and feisty. I’ve found that if I give her some Pirate’s Booty and berries and promise we end at a playground, she’s good to go for at least a few miles. I hope to keep this routine up well after the race this month because I love it!
Easter – We had an incredible Easter this year. It’s been quite a few years since we went all out and celebrated Easter with family and friends and I have to say that I loved it. We hosted my sister, brother-in-law and some of our close friends for a lovely brunch then an egg hunt at the park across the street for the kids. The weather was gorgeous that day and the morning went by without a hitch. Oh, and I loved cooking and baking my heart out the day before, so I hope to do something similar again next year!
Downtown Scavenger Hunt – This month for our Stroller Strides Mom’s Night Out, we went on a scavenger hunt downtown and it was one of the best times I’ve had this year. My playgroup captain partner wrote the entire hunt and she did an absolutely phenomenal job. We all had a fantastic time running around downtown and the Gaslamp Quarter taking silly photos, enjoying an ice cream sundae and finding slightly obscure historical and cultural landmarks. It was the perfect night out with friends for this competitive gal.
Planting Seeds – To celebrate Earth Day at Stroller Strides, I planted zinnia seeds in biodegradable pots with the kids. I had a bunch of extra pots at the end of the day, so I bought some flower mix seeds and planted more with Cecilia for our patio. They weren’t supposed to sprout for a couple of weeks, but on day four all of them started coming up! I can’t wait until these little sprouts get bigger and I can plant them into a large gorgeous pot to attract butterflies and hummingbirds just like the seed packet said 🙂
Summer Feels – I’ve never been one of those people who lives for summer. Of course I like the summer sunshine (I live in San Diego after all), baseball and beach days, but I’ve always been more of a person who waits all year for fall. This year, something feels different, though, because I’m getting more and more exited for summer with each passing day. I don’t know if it’s because Cecilia is at such a fun age and I can’t wait to go out and have adventures with her or what’s going on, but as of right now, summer can’t get here soon enough!
Now it’s your time to share! What were your April favorites????
